Finally got him.

So I've been interested in Asian Ball Joint Dolls for about a year and have been wanted one. Well this was my month! I finally got my Doll. He's a Dollzone (company) Hid (doll model). I am very interested in making clothes for him so you'll probably start seeing him and the various clothes I make for him here in my blog. Okay here he is.

Pending Projects

So I was cleaning up my apartment, specifically my sewing area and I realized I have too many unfinished projects. I really should get them all done. The problem for most of them is they're still in the "design". Most of them are bags that have been cut out already and have the main body ready to go, it's just the little details that are elusive. Like what I should add to make it pop or give it that "WolfChild" flare. So this week I pulled out a few of them and just started doing the little things that need to be done with them like cutting out linings and sewing tags and pockets. All in the hope that that creative spark will fire and I’ll be able to finish them soon. I was able to finish two of them so far but my goal is to get my whole pending project drawer empty by the end of the year. I’ll keep you posted how it goes. Keep an eye on my store for new products.

Red & White Rising Sun Coin Purse

I made this coin purse originally in Black and Red vinyl with a more gothic look to help raise money for Japan's Earthquake Diaster this year. I raised over $200 in just about a month and was very please with the positive responce of the online community. I've been planning on making one in more tradisional style but it too me awhile to get it finished. Well, here it is, the Red and White Rising Sun coin purse! Hope you like it. I'm still donated money from these Japan themed items.

Black & Teal tutu

Okay so you all may know that I play roller derby with the Arizona Roller Girls. Well their league colors are black & teal and the offical Rollergirl look is a black t-shirt and a black/teal tutu. For someone like me who has a promenient rear area, fluffy skirts just aren't going to work. So I'm trying to come up with some other way to wear the black and teal tute that will flater me and look cute. I'm thinking maybe just make it as a train of tule so the front is flat and its not too puffy in the back. why on earth would anyone larger than a size 2 want to wear a tutu. LOL oh well I'm sure it'll work out.

Updates

I haven't been keeping up with my WCD Blogs the last few months because my life fell out and I'm trying to get it back in order. I've been mostly making Pokeball backpacks they seem to be selling very well and I'm really excited about it. I've also been very busy with Roller Derby, I pasted my skills test and got drafted to a team. I am now a Hail Mary of the Arizona Roller Girls my first game is in September. I'm super excited.

Other than just filling orders though my Etsy store I've been working on some toe gaurds for my skates. They sell them online and at skate shops but I didn't like the ones they had for sale. Plus I wanted to see if there is another material other than leather that would work. So far I've had no luck with them. The vinyl works okay but I think I need to change the design a little bit. Here is a look at the ones I made and the aftermath :D

The grey fur were made because I thought that they would just slide on the floor instead of scuffing. No luck, after the first knee drop there was a huge hole in the front from where the fabric melted from the heat of the friction.

The red and black ones looked great but didn't hold out at all. I knew the red vinyl wasn't strong enough but I didn't think they would be riped off my skates. I know why these ripped apart, it was a design flaw. I didn't have them on tight enough and the eyelets got ripped out of the vinyl. I have a new game plan for the toe gaurds and I'll probably make another pair soon but for now I'm a little burnt on this project.

I have a bunch of new project ideas that I hope to get started with soon but I'll be moving again at the end of this month so it'll all have to wait till have I settle in again.

Roller Derby Tryouts

Thought I would post something about me other than sewing to spice up my blog. I've been roller skating for about 22 years now. Since I was about 7 years old, when I first learned to skate. Also I spent about 12 hours a week at the skating rink in middle school because I loved skating and had no friends. I would even roll pennies to come up with the money for admission. I didn't even get my own skates until I was about 18 years old, so I invested a lot of money into rental skates though out the years.

Recently after my last artshow a derby girl on skates rolled up to me as I was packing up my stuff. She handed me a flyer for Derby tryouts. I'd heard of derby but had never seen a match. I always thought it would be fun thought, since I'm a skater.

I went to the bout they has that week with a friend and was blow away by the sport and started seriously concidering going out for it. The Arizona Roller Girls league tryouts were held yesterday. I was suprised at how many girls showed up, about tweenty of us in all. The derby girls were really nice and easy to talk to. All of us did our best, there was even a fifty year old lady just learning to skate for the first time, but that's how bad she wanted to derby.

I had a great time! I always forget how much I love skating till I get out on the floor. I'm always happiest on my skates. Well I'll find out if I got in sometime in the next week. Wish me luck. You never know, I could be designing a line of Roller Derby costumes and accessories soon. :D

More D.I.Y. madness!

So I wondered around the Goodwill by my house and found this awesome dress/shirt thing. Clearly it was ment for a taller girl because on me it is WAY too short to work as a dress. But I decided it would be a really cute tank top. Since summer is coming fast here in AZ I've been trying to get as many cute tops as possible.

So here is the run down of what i did to this dress. First I cut off the sleeve things cause they threw off the look of the top. Then the lacing was too long so I used a bit of it to make spegetti straps. Then I just hemmed the bottom and viola! Thanks to Havok for assisting my model.

Here is the Dress before

Wardrobe Revamp

I've been meaning to revamp some of my clothes for a while. When your low on funds and you can't just run out and buy cooler clothes you have to get creative. So I was looking at my jeans and thinking about how I could make them more awesome. I had some black dye lying around so I figured, fuck it, I'll dye a pair black. I've spent the last three days working of making a cool outfit out of the stuff I have on hand. This is what I came up with. I made a pair of my favorite fitting jeans into some awesome black skinny jeans that are super comfy as well as flattering. Viola, from old and busted to new hotness!

Then I had this ugly dress shirt I got at a thrift store years ago when I was a corporate flunky. I always liked the fabric and the cuffs but the shirt itself was just ill fitting no matter what I did to it. Best solution was to just cut it up. So I cut my favorite parts of the shirt and turned them into need "cuff" bracelets and a "collar" choker. A while ago I stumbled upon a tutorial on Thread Banger on how to make spats, I bookmarked it because I knew one day I would want to try to make a pair. Since I had extra fabric from the shirt I decided to try the spats. I added some pyramid studs for extra pazazz to complete the look. From Corporate bitch, to Steam Punk aristocrat!

Pokeball backpack

So here are some progress pictures of the Pokeball Backpack commision I got two weeks ago at the First Friday Art Walk. I just finished the pattern and cutting out the fabric. The way I laid it out is wrong the red is the top so just ignore the layout. The Front that consists of four pieces; the top (red), the bottom (white), the middle (black), and the button (white) in the middle of the black. The there is just the back (white) and the sides (white) then the linging which will be red cotton. I'm planning on using 1 inch wide black nyon webbing for the straps and handle. The straps will be adjustable, per customers request. I've never made a round bag this big before so this should be interesting to sew. Plus it's vinyl so that'll make it extra tricky. I'll be sure to post pitures of the finished product before giving it to the customer. I'll probably have them on etsy as a custom order as well.

Rising Sun iPhone Case & P.O.S.

After making my Rising Sun Coin Purse I got a special request from a friend of mine to make a iPhone case and a P.O.S. (pocket on a string). Its the same design as the Rising Sun coin purse just a little bigger & with a strap. It was a bit tricky getting the the rays of the sun to look right on the larger P.O.S. size bag. All in all they came out great. 50% of the sale of these bags is going to the Japanese Red Cross.

Tiny Keys

I was wondering around on Etsy when i came accross these cute little keys. All different sizes and shapes I just had to have them. Since I'm venture slowing into the world BJD clothes I thought these keys would be perfect for accessorizing they're tiny clothes. Also some of then are bigger and can be uded in necklaces and purses. They are so cute!

I took pictures of all of them and then closer ones of the left side, middle, and right side. I also used a penny as size refference to give you an idea of what size they are.

Rising Sun Coin Purse

After being so moved by all the people donating, since I have limited funds myself, I decided to make purses with Japanese themes and sell them to donate 50% of the proceeds. This coin purse is the first of many I'm going to make to contribute to one of the worst disasters in all the world. The Rising Sun insignia was draw freehand to make a pattern piece that was then cut out in this bright red vinyl. Since most of my work is Gothic or rock theme, I felt this should be no different. I will also be making them with white backrounds but this was my first idea.

I've always loved Japan and have spent the last 5 years of my life studing the language. Most of the music I listen to currently is Japanese rock music. Everything from Gackt and Buck-Tick, to X-Japan and An Cafe. One day I hope to visit Japan and maybe live there.

With that in mind it only seemed fitting for me to venture into making Japanese themed or style bags. I've been working on doing some Anime inspired bags, but hadn't yet gone into making anything else that was Japan specific. It's unfortunate that I should get inspiration from such tragity. I wanted to donate something to the people of Japan, and since I don't have money all I can offer is my sewing skills. I don't really have a number goal in mind but I will be selling these bags and collecting the money to send to Japan. It's the least this one person can do. It also gives people something tangible to show their support.
